Image of 'Jesus' in sonogram brings peace to Chambersburg parents

A Chambersburg mom thinks her new baby may do "big things" in life, perhaps thanks to an unexpected image in a sonogram taken not long before the child's birth.

The sonogram includes an image that Alicia Zeek and her fiancee, Zac Smith, think looks like Jesus.

An image that looks like Jesus is on the left, and the baby is on the right.

The sonogram was taken on Aug. 1, during an ultrasound that was ordered after Zeek came to a doctor's appointment with high blood pressure, she told Public Opinion.

"It was a shock, I didn't actually know what to think," Zeek said of seeing the image after receiving a print-out of the sonogram. She gave the photo to her fiancee, asked him what he saw, and after a minute he said he saw it, too.

The ultrasound tech had already left the room, so they didn't mention it to anyone at the time.

Indeed, there is an image to the left of the baby that looks like a bearded man with long hair. The image of 'Jesus' looks to the baby, as the baby faces it.

Due to the fact that the ultrasound was taken in response to an issue, Zeek said "it brought peace" to her and her family.

"It was a needed comfort for sure, but now I kinda think that she'll do big things," Zeek said Thursday from her hospital room.

Zeek and her fiancee took the image as a blessing, and their daughter Briella was born Tuesday,  with few complications.

The sonogram gained attention after Zeek's friend shared the sonogram with a local news station. The story has been picked up by outlets local and international.

"It's kind of overwhelming," Zeek said, adding she saw some negative things about the picture. But shes doesn't take those to heart.

"We both feel like she has a special purpose or like, she's going to do something great," Zeek said.

The couple also want to look through old sonograms, in case there are other images there.

"We never even noticed, but we just moved, so we'll look into that," Zeek said.
